Since I was just five years-old, I’ve wanted to be an astronaut. When you’re that young and you have that big of a dream, most people just ignore you. But I stuck with it. I made plans, I worked hard, and I focused on my goal. As I got older and continued to stay focused on science technology engineering and math (STEM), people in my life (my family, friends, teachers), began to notice and encouraged me to dream big. I had huge aspirations, and was fortunate to have people around me telling me that I could achieve them.
I’ve been diligent in pursuing my dreams, and that’s because, along the way, I had people telling me that I could succeed. Now that I’m on my journey to being an astronaut, I want to use my story to inspire other young people to follow their dreams as well. Kids need to be encouraged to reach for the stars. When you’re young, the opportunities for ambition are endless. I want to get kids excited about working hard, persevering, and believing that they can eventually achieve what they’ve always to achieve – and I want you to join me.
