Here is the latest from NASA regarding sequestration cuts:

“Guidance for Education and Public Outreach Activities Under Sequestration

NASA has taken the first steps in addressing the mandatory spending cuts called for in the Budget Control Act of 2011. The law mandates a series of indiscriminate and significant across-the-board spending reductions totaling $1.2 trillion over 10 years.

As a result, NASA has been forced to implement a number of new cost-saving measures, policies, and reviews in order to minimize impacts to the mission-critical activities of the Agency. Guidance regarding conferences, travel, and training that reflect the new fiscal reality in which the agency must operate has been provided.

For specific guidance as it relates to public outreach and engagement activities please reference the following webpage.”

I think The governments should try CROWDFUNDING. You Raised over $35,000 in such an Incredible short Time, Abby: Imagine what could be Raised if they Used It: Especially for Space & Medical Research, and STEM.

This aggravates me to no end. The career politicians in Washington love to stick it to the people when ever cuts need to be made. It seems that NASA and education always draw the shortest straw.
When I’m faced with a budget crisis in my life and have to choose something to cut. I prioritize my necessities and luxuries and cut out the things I can live without. But the Government seems to do the opposite like a child throwing a temper tantrum. They want the people to feel the pain.
We as citizens have to remember that when we vote. Instead of voting for the popular guy who talks a good talk. Instead review the facts and pick the candidate that will server the people instead of the ones that are out to server themselves and there cronies.

That is So True. I live in Australia, and Our government are Always Cutting funding to Necessary services, including and in particular, Health Services (Hospitals & Nursing), and Education. There are Hundreds if not thousands of beds in Hospitals (even Whole Hospital Wards), in almost every hospital that are closed. And the Waiting List for some Surgical Operations can be up to 2 years, or even more. Peoples Health Situations in such cases can get worse, or they can even die while they are waiting.
I think The governments should try CROWDFUNDING. You Raised over $35,000 in such an Incredible short Time, Abby: Imagine what could be Raised if they Used It: Especially for Space & Medical Research, and STEM.
